2024 NFL odds: Does Saquon Barkley hold the single-season rushing record?

Only eight times in NFL history has a running back topped 2,000 rushing yards and only once has a running back surpassed 2,100 rushing yards.

Will Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley become the second to walk more than 2,100, and surpass the record of 2,105 in the process?

That record was set by Eric Dickerson back in 1984, and the closest player was Adrian Peterson in 2012, when he finished with 2,097 yards.

FanDuel Sportsbook has odds on Barkley overshadowing Peterson and Dickerson, and he’s currently +470 to accomplish this feat.

What is remarkable about that? However, he was at +2000 after Week 11. But after setting an Eagles record 255 rushing yards in Week 12, his 2,105 passing yards increased significantly.

Barkley now leads the league in rushing yards with 1,392, ahead of Baltimore’s Derrick Henry (1,185), who has held the lead for most of the season (the Ravens play Monday night).

FanDuel has yet to post odds for Henry, who is already a member of the 2,000-yard rushing club. He rushed for 2,027 yards in 2020.

Barkley, assuming he plays the rest of the season, is six games away from reaching 2,106, meaning he would have to average 119 rushing yards per game.

He is currently averaging 126.5 rushing yards per game. Five times this season he has rushed for more than 119 yards in a game.
