Euratex-AMITH commitments to promote Euro-Moroccan textile cooperation
Signed during the 21st edition of Maroc in Mode (MIM 2024) in Casablanca, this agreement focuses on key shared objectives, including industrial practices with European standards for sustainability and circularity, addressing cultural and regulatory challenges, and promoting a good investment and business environment between . two regions.
“The EU-Morocco textile connection has great untapped potential. In collaboration with AMITH, we aim to strengthen the textile sectors of both regions, accepting sustainability and competitiveness as priorities. This MoU is a logical step towards our common vision of a successful Euro. -Mediterranean textile ecosystem ,” said Euratex president Mario Jorge Machado.
The MoU underlines both parties’ commitment to improving global competitiveness in the textile sector and ensuring a smooth transition to the revised rules of the Pan Euro Med ((PEM) Convention, which will enter into force on 1 January 2025.
The partnership also aims to promote knowledge sharing in industrial technology, joint ventures, and capacity building initiatives.
Through this partnership, Euratex and AMITH aim to contribute to the creation of a stable, strong, and competitive Euro-Mediterranean textile industry.
The MoU represents an important step towards a more integrated and forward-looking partnership, opening doors to future growth opportunities within the framework of the PEM Summit.
“This Memorandum of Understanding is important for AMITH as it will help achieve our mission: to drive the continuous development of the Moroccan industry and help companies rise to new levels of efficiency and sustainability,” said AMITH president El Ansari Anass.
During a face-to-face interview with Just Style in September, Euratex director general Dirk Vantyghem shared that there are rumors circulating in parliament about the creation of a textile group.
