Amy Adams demonstrated one of the first rules of comedy: Know your audience.
Former “Saturday Night Live” host Seth Meyers, along with “SNL” alums Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, took time out during “The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast” to analyze the song from a 2008 episode hosted by. Adams.
While discussing the song, Samberg revealed that they originally had another idea for that week’s digital short, but Adams declined to participate.
“I won’t go into too much detail about it, but it was a song that Amy Adams and I would play, and it was very dirty,” he explained.

“I know that’s kind of—-y not to say what the premise was, but really it was like we were both really old, and we had a picnic, [an] a couple of adults, and one of us gets stung by a scorpion. And then I die or something, and what I’m lamenting on my deathbed is that we haven’t explored a lot of sex in our lives, and this song is great for that. “
She continued, “We played the beginning of it to her and read a bunch of lyrics, and she thought it was so funny, and she was great as always. We love Amy. She’s a genius, and she was like, ‘That’s so funny, I can’t do that. Little girls are obsessed with ‘Enchanted’ right now.” .
Instead, the group came up with a sketch called “Hero Song,” which features Samberg as a vigilante like Batman in “The Dark Knight.” As the sketch plays out, he stops Adams’ character from being robbed, only to be beaten by a thug.
Samberg said that while Adams thought the sketch was “really funny,” he had to turn it down out of respect for new fans of “Enchanted,” which came out a few months before he hosted “SNL.” (Jesse Grant/Karwai Tang)

“When we went out to shoot ‘Hero Song,’ within five minutes, a mother and her little girl walked up, and the look on the little girl’s face when I saw Amy Adams, I was like, ‘Oh, she was right,'” Samberg said.
“She was like, ‘That’s really funny. I can’t do that. Little girls are so into ‘Enchanted’ right now.’
“And it was very educational for me. It’s not something I’ve even thought about in our work. You know what I mean? Like, you actually have a responsibility and a responsibility to those kids, and you took it really seriously. And I remember being impressed by that.”
