Vikings forward JJ McCarthy had an injection to relieve knee inflammation

Minnesota Vikings linebacker JJ McCarthy received injections in his right knee earlier this week to relieve inflammation that developed during his rehabilitation program, coach Kevin O’Connell said Wednesday.
McCarthy, the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft, tore his meniscus during the first exhibition game on Aug. 10 and had season-ending surgery.
“We wanted to make sure there was no cause for concern,” O’Connell said. “All the reports have been very good, and he’s on the real schedule and in great shape.”
The rookie out of Michigan has progressed to being a regular presence at meetings and practices, and the coaching staff has appreciated his attentiveness and focused attitude behind starters Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien.
“It’s been a real growth for him,” O’Connell said.
It is reported by the Associated Press.
