The police investigated a young girl who died on the road after jumping over a police car

Two officers have been issued with misconduct notices after a 17-year-old girl jumped from a police car and died on the M5 in Somerset, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has said.

Tamzin Hall was taken into custody on the night of November 11 when police came out “for safety reasons,” the IOPC said, adding that she was handcuffed in front of her and a police officer sat by her side.

He fled from a police car parked on the northbound road and died after being hit by a car on the southbound road.

District director David Ford: “My thoughts and sympathies are with Tamzin’s family and friends, and everyone affected by the tragic events of that evening.

“We met with Tamzin’s family to express our condolences and to reveal how our investigation will continue. We will provide regular updates as our inquiries continue.

“Our investigation is well underway and we are working hard to find out what happened, from when Tamzin was arrested, to how things happened a short time later on the M5.”

After an inquest was opened, her mother Amy Hall described her eldest daughter as her “best friend” and said the death had left their family “devastated”.

“Tamzin was the kindest, caring, loving, and most loyal girl. He was the most honest person I have ever known; he was special to me,” she said.

“He had a sense of humor, and we laughed together.

“He was my shadow from the time he opened his eyes in the morning until he went to sleep at night. She was a very intelligent little girl and had interesting views on things in life.”

He added: “Tamzin was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, so she was different and saw the world differently.

“Tamzin was everything to me and I can’t believe she’s gone. He was my world. “
