Suspected DUI driver killed by police in Brea on Thanksgiving Day
A man suspected of driving under the influence was shot and killed by police on Thursday afternoon.
Police responded to calls around 4:42 pm for a “possible DUI driver,” according to a news release from the Brea Police Department. The suspect was reportedly found after driving his car into a wall near the freeway at Lambert Road and the 57 Freeway in Brea, a city in northern Orange County.
When the police arrived and surrounded the car, the driver allegedly drove into the police car, according to ABC 7.
“The police contacted the driver. A short time later, an officer related to the shooting appeared,” the news release said.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. According to Fox LA, the police who arrived at the scene were not injured.
The Orange County district attorney’s office will conduct an investigation into the shooting, according to the release.
