A woman fends off a deadly snake on a Melbourne highway

A driver had to make an emergency stop on a Melbourne freeway after he looked down to find a deadly snake inside his car – and slithering down his leg.
Police were called to do a welfare check on the woman, who was “baring her chest on the side of the road” trying to stop passing vehicles, Victoria Police said.
The woman told police she was driving at 80km/h (50mph) on the Monash Freeway when she felt something in her foot.
Melbourne Snake Control was called to collect the animal, which has been identified as a tiger snake, which is one of the most venomous reptiles in the world.
The driver was taken to hospital with suspected snakebite and is doing well, Melbourne Snake Control said on social media.

“The remarkable thing is that he was able to stop the snake from him and cut through the traffic before he got out and jumped out of his car to safety,” Victoria police said.
Police said he was “fidgeting” and “still in a state of shock”.
The drivers who were passing by “were left confused” when the snake was removed from the car, said the police; Tim Nanninga from Melbourne Snake Control said some bystanders started filming the removal on video.
He told ABC News that he released the snake back into the wild “away from houses, people and pets”.
