UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside a New York City hotel

NEW YORK, NY – UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning, Fox News has confirmed.

The search is still ongoing as the suspect is still at large.

Sources told Fox News that Thompson was shot in the chest and leg shortly before his annual UnitedHealthcare investor meeting.

Sources said the shooting was not a random incident.

Thompson was reportedly in town from Minnesota.

The governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, who is now the vice president of the Democratic Alliance, responded to the news of Thompson’s murder, condemning the shooting as “shocking news and a terrible loss for the business and health community in Minnesota,” according to the New York Times.

Without identifying the victim, the New York City Police Department told Fox News Digital that a 50-year-old man was shot in the chest outside the Hilton Hotel on 6th Ave. at about 6:46 am it was taken to Mt. Sinai West. at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one has been arrested, the investigation is ongoing.

News cameras captured video of NYPD officers working to revive Thompson on the side of the road outside the Hilton before he was taken to the hospital.

Several witnesses told WNYW that the suspect was seen lurking, most of the night, outside the hotel, possibly targeting the victim.

A meeting between the police and the media is scheduled for 11:30 am

The New York Post initially identified Thompson as the shooting victim.

Thompson’s sister, Elena Reveiz, told The Times in a phone interview that she was still processing the news that her brother had been killed.

“He was a good person, and I’m very sad,” Reveiz said, adding that Thompson was a loving father to his two children.

According to ABC News, police said the shooter was wearing a snow mask and fled down the street near West 55th St.

The suspect is described as a thin man, standing about 6-foot-1 and wearing all black.

Fox News Digital reached out to UnitedHealthcare but did not immediately respond.
