A Florida killer who accepted a plea deal in the cold case murder of a clown has been released from prison
The 1990 clown murder case came to a close as the Florida woman who pleaded guilty was released from prison on Saturday.
Sheila Keen-Warren, 61, has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to murdering Marlene Warren while dressed as a clown and handing out carnations and balloons.
Keen-Warren was arrested in 2017 and later convicted of shooting and killing Marlene more than 30 years ago in Wellington, Florida. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2023, with credit for 2,000-plus days already served in jail.

Despite his plea deal, he has maintained his innocence.
“We are very pleased that Ms. Keen-Warren has been released from prison and is returning to her family,” said Greg Rosenfeld, Kenn-Warren’s attorney. the Associated Press. “As we have said from the beginning, he did not commit this crime.”

He was a suspect from the beginning of the case but the lack of evidence from the investigators made it difficult for the prosecutors to charge him. DNA evidence replicated in 2014 allowed them to link him to the crime scene.

The victim’s son, Joseph Ahrens, and friends were at home at the time of the incident and said a clown brought balloons and flowers before shooting Marlene in the face.

Keen-Warren went on to marry her victim’s husband, Michael Warren, for whom she worked.
Witnesses believe the two were dating at the time of Marlene’s murder, although both denied it.
