A Texas lawmaker says Trump will have the full support of Congress on mass deportations

President-elect Trump will have full support for deporting undocumented immigrants, despite opposition from Democratic governors, according to one Texas lawmaker.

“America has spoken and Trump will get the support of everyone to do what we need to do, especially down in Texas … It will change our country, make it safer,” said Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, “Morning with Maria,” Tuesday.

“We have to go back to being a country of law where people understand that. And that will be part of Trump’s agenda,” added the lawyer. “Secure the border and keep the drug dealers from running across the border, and fix things. That’s the way we have to do it. We know it works.”

On Monday, Trump confirmed on Truth Social his plans to declare a national emergency and may use military assets as part of an effort to impeach his administration as it prepares to launch on day one.

LARRY KUDLOW: THE BORDER PROBLEM IS A BUSINESS PROBLEM

Trump declared a national emergency on the southern border in 2019 to allocate more money to the construction of the border wall amid congressional inaction on the matter. Military equipment has been used in many ways for border security, including in Texas.

However, it is not clear how they will be used in relation to deportation.

“Following the Eisenhower Model, we will carry out the largest deportation in American history,” Trump said in September.

Newly appointed border governor Tom Homan has emphasized plans to use more agency powers outside of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a nod to the Department of Defense (DOD).

“There’s going to be a duplication of effort to take more agents, to put them on the streets where we need them,” Homan said on “The Evening Edit,” Monday.

“We have found many threats to national security in this nation that we must find. We must get rid of them immediately,” he continued.

Attorney Williams expanded on his conference, saying state governors may not be able to override the Republican-controlled Congress and the White House. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said she was willing to use “every tool in the toolbox” to protect its citizens and residents and vowed that state police would “never” help Trump in the job; Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said last week he will “do everything I can to protect undocumented immigrants.”

“The interesting thing is that they think they are protecting their people. Yes, their people voted for President Trump. They voted for deportation. They voted for a secure border,” said the representative.

“They voted for the soldiers at the border. I don’t know why [Democratic governors] they act from a political point of view… We want to be a world of law. That is what will happen. That’s what people want, and let’s start fixing things and settle down in this world and take control of ourselves.”
