Cowboys star Micah Parsons gets emotional after loss to Bengals

A tough season got even tougher for Dallas Cowboys tight end Micah Parsons on Monday night. The 25-year-old looked dejected on the sideline after the Dallas defense let the Cincinnati Bengals lose 27-20.

Ja’Marr Chase’s 40-yard touchdown run from Joe Burrow came less than a minute after the Cowboys let a good chance slip through their fingers. With two minutes left in the game, Bengals punter Ryan Rehkow attempted to kick the ball at the Cincinnati 29-yard line. Dallas linebacker Nick Vigil, making his Bengals debut, came scrambling to block the punt.

Amani Oruwariye, activated on injured reserve earlier Monday, tried to pick up the ball, though the Cowboys would have had it if he hadn’t touched it. But Oruwariye could not block the ball and the Bengals ended up with it.

When Cooper Rush’s fourth pass fell incomplete, the game was officially over. Parsons was seen leaving the field a few seconds before the Cowboys lost to 5-8.

Parsons was visibly upset when he spoke to reporters about the loss, calling the missed punt a “big change” after the Dallas defense had just sacked Burrow on third down.

“It seems like we’re paying the wrong amount. I don’t know if it’s bad luck, karma. But in terms of work ethic, everyone works hard,” added Parsons.

It was the Cowboys’ fourth one-point game of the season. They were hurt again, this time by Parsons’ teammate DeMarvion Overshown. The second-year player went down in the fourth quarter with a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. He missed his rookie season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

“I cried. It’s the same with my little brother. He doesn’t deserve that either,” Parsons said with tears in his eyes.

“The year he had, I don’t think it’s fair either.” Overshown has five sacks this season, ranking second on the team behind Parsons (6.5).

Parsons missed four games earlier this season with an ankle sprain. Starting quarterback Dak Prescott is also out for the year with a torn hamstring, while veterans like defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and offensive lineman Zack Martin missed significant time.
