Dem Colorado governor slams Biden over Hunter pardon: ‘Put his family before country’
Colorado Governor Jared Polis accused President Biden of putting “family before country” for pardoning Hunter Biden.
“While as a father I understand President Joe Biden’s natural desire to help his son by pardoning him, I am disappointed that he has put his family before country,” the Democrat wrote in X.
“This is a bad example that may be abused by recent Presidents and will sadly tarnish his reputation. When you become President, your role is Pater familys of the nation,” continued Polis, referring to the Latin word that means the head of the household.
“Hunter has brought on himself a legal problem, and one can sympathize with his difficulties while acknowledging that no one is above the law, not the President and not the President’s son,” Polis said.
LAWYERS CRASH BIDEN’S DECISION TO PARDON HUNTER.
Biden’s pardon of Hunter was announced by the White House on Sunday night and comes after Hunter was convicted of two separate crimes earlier this year.
The pardon applies to crimes against the US that Hunter Biden “committed or may have committed” from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024.
HUNTER BIDEN SAYS HIS MISTAKES WERE ‘USED’ IN POLITICAL GAMES, HE WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM.
“Today, I signed the pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden wrote in a statement. “From the day I took office, I said that I will not interfere in the decision-making of the Department of Justice, I kept my word as I watched my son being prosecuted in a selective and unfair manner.”
The president went on to say that his son is being “treated differently” by prosecutors.

“Without the more complicated things like using it to commit a crime, making multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a weed buyer, people are almost never prosecuted for crimes simply because of how they fill out a gun form,” Biden added. “Those who are late in paying their taxes due to addiction, but pay them back with interest and penalties, are often given non-criminal convictions. It’s clear that Hunter was treated differently.”
