Estimated 500,000-plus ballots still to be counted in Arizona: ‘Elections don’t end on Election Day’

Election Day has long passed, but Arizonans and Americans across the country are still awaiting results from the Grand Canyon State, including the outcome of the closely watched US Senate race between Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego and Trump-backed Republican Kari Lake.
“Elections do not end on Election Day. It takes time to ensure that all valid votes are counted,” the state’s voting progress page said.
According to the page, the estimated number of uncounted votes stands at 588,223.

While Election Day was Tuesday, the results of the Senate and presidential races in the state of Arizona are still unclear as of Saturday.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes for comment on why it’s taking so long to count the state’s 2024 election votes and when he expects the counting process to be completed.
Deputy communications director JP Martin responded via email, “Arizona has historically taken 10-13 days to count results. The secretary was reminding the public of this fact before the election even took place. Your premise is wrong.”

“Accurate election results take time,” Fontes noted in a post on X. “Signature verification is the process of comparing the sig. on the voter’s ballot envelope with the information in the database. The ballot is then classified to keep the voter’s identity confidential and sent for submission.”
Lake has been urging people to volunteer to help “heal” the votes.

“I can’t stress enough how important vote counting is. Every vote will count in this election, so we need to make sure every vote counts. We have until Sunday to get the votes sorted. I URGE you to get involved. if you haven’t already,” Lake said on Twitter.
Maricopa County Elections explained, “Cure is the process of resolving any issues with your signature on the green affidavit envelope to vote early. In order for your vote to be tabulated, we must have a verified signature each election cycle….” There is a small window of time to resolve signature issues. .”

The winner of the US Senate race will replace Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat-turned-independent who chose not to seek re-election in 2024.
Even if President-elect Trump wins in Arizona, it’s clear that he’s got the Electoral College beat by Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 White House race.
