Everyone has already asked for Trump’s pardon – from Joe Exotic to the Proud Boys

In the slow hours of his first administration, Donald Trump issued one of his last orders on January 20, 2021 and showed mercy to 143 people, including former aide Steve Bannon and rapper Lil Wayne.

Four years ago, Trump, who now has a criminal record, is a few weeks away from returning to the White House and a number of other suspects are already knocking on the door.

The president can grant amnesty (removal of punishment after a court decision) and commutation (reduction of criminal punishment) as he sees fit for federal convictions, but not for state crimes.

Disgraced politicians, January 6 rioters and reality TV celebrities have begun crying out for Trump’s pardon.

Proud Boys leader Joseph Biggs

In a Truth Social post in March, the president-elect vowed that one of his first acts in office would be to “free the January 6 hostages who have been unjustly imprisoned”.

Trump has repeatedly promised to pardon hundreds of his supporters accused of involvement in the riots at the Capitol building in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021, in a violent attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Joseph Biggs hopes to be one of them.

Biggs is one of four Proud Boys leaders currently serving prison terms after being found guilty of conspiracy last year. At least 70 other members of the opposition have been charged with complicity in the violence.

Last week, Biggs’ lawyer Norm Pattis called for Trump to grant his client a “full pardon”.

“These are divisive times,” Pattis wrote. “The rift was intense in 2020, when millions believed the election was rigged and asserted the integrity of the election. Suspicion and bitterness about the election are still there today.”

He compared it to pardoning Confederate supporters after the Civil War.

“Mr. Biggs’ pardon will help close that wound and promote confidence in the future,” he said.

Former Speaker of the Ohio House

In March of last year, a jury found former Ohio House Speaker Larry guilty of leading a $60 million bribery scheme involving FirstEnergy Corp.

With 16 months to go before he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the homeowner’s attorney, Scott Pullins, said his client is asking for clemency.

When the lawyer was asked if the owner of the house wanted a change or amnesty, the lawyer told Cleveland.com that “they will take anything we can get”.

He also added: “We are following all legal methods to bring the owner of the house, the Speaker, home.”

Julie and Todd Chrisley

Todd and wife Julie Chrisley, both 51, made their TV debut in 2014. Chrisley Knows Best serving prison terms of less than ten years.

In November, 2022, the couple was sentenced after being found guilty of conspiring to defraud public banks of a R30 million loan and both served 19 years in prison.

The father of five is clearly excited to hear about the upcoming second Trump administration.

Torrence Hatch, better known as “Boosie Badazz” – or “Boosie” – has also asked the president-elect to pardon him.

Hatch, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was arrested during a traffic stop for possession of a gun, shortly before he was to perform in San Diego, California.

While the original case was dismissed on July 12, new charges were brought against him on July 19 that are linked to the first case, including another charge of selling drugs.
