Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines calls out ‘The View’ hosts for ‘confused’ over Capitol Hill bathroom ban
The old one University of Kentucky Swimmer Riley Gaines slammed her “The View” co-hosts Wednesday, calling them “confused” and “close-minded” after they spoke out in defense of Delaware Rep.-elect Sarah McBride over a ruling that would bar transgender women from participating. using the women’s restrooms in the US Capitol.
Gaines, 12 times NCAA All-American swimmer who spoke publicly against the inclusion of women and girls in sports and advocated for the protection of women’s positions, sent a message to X calling out the group for talking about an issue that does not directly affect them.
“I wonder if the confused, out-of-touch women on The View would be comfortable letting Mr. McBride change in a locker room inches from their daughters,” she wrote on X’s blog along with a clip of the show. .

“It doesn’t matter until it affects you personally.”
Gaines competed against former UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas, a transgender athlete, at the 2022 NCAA Championships, where she said the NCAA chose to award Thomas a fifth-place trophy for a “photo op” despite them being tied for the women’s freestyle 200.
Thomas would go on to win a national title in the women’s 500 freestyle.
Gaines was responding to a segment on Tuesday’s episode of “The View” in which the co-hosts responded to the decision by Rep. Nancy Mace, RS.C., to ban transgender women from using women’s restrooms in the US Capitol to responding to McBride, the first openly gay lawmaker to join Congress in January.

“I don’t understand how this happened [Mace’s] welcome to someone who will make a difference in the country,” said Whoopi Goldberg.
“It’s not acceptable, to give him the middle finger. Because he is the only one in the house that this will affect,” answered Sara Haines, adding, “And this woman who came to sit at our table is one of the most successful, honorable, wonderful politicians I’ve ever seen and her messages were heard on all the boards.
Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in, calling the attempt to shut down McBride “bad.”
“He’s a new member of Congress, who ran as a moderate democrat, he talked about the issues – the pocketbook issues. He said to our table ‘I’m not the spokesperson for our community. I’m running to deliver Delaware.’ And Nancy Mace is trying to get him into a war that he didn’t sign up to be a part of. He’s trying to get him into ‘You have to be a culture hero, making this all about you’ because Nancy Mace isn’t doing that the way she chooses to be.”
