Harris never led Trump, internal polls showed — but DNC officials were kept in the dark
A senior aide to Vice President Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign recently revealed that internal polling did not see her defeating President-elect Donald Trump, but apparently this was not conveyed to those who collected large-dollar donations for her bid.
“That’s not what we were told,” DNC National Finance Committee Member and Harris campaign fundraiser Lindy Li shared with Fox News Digital.
“We were told for sure that he was going to win – it wasn’t even a shot. I was even told that Pennsylvania looked good, we were going to win 3-4 swing states.”

“And on election night … we were told we were going to win Iowa.”
But Harris senior adviser David Plouffe presented a very different analysis of the vice president’s chances at the time on “Pod Save America,” a show hosted by former President Barack Obama’s staff.
“We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” he told the show’s presenters on Tuesday’s episode.

“I think people were surprised because there were these public polls that came out at the end of September, at the beginning of October, showing us clues that we have never seen before.”
Plouffe, along with other top Harris aides Jen O’Malley Dillon, Stephanie Cutter and Quentin Fulks, joined the podcast to share why they believe they lost the election.
Although top campaign advisers were aware of Harris’ poll deficit, the information appeared to be hidden from other parties involved, including those soliciting money from donors, such as Li.

According to Li, it is “absolutely not” common for this type of information to be hidden.
“I’ve been doing this since I graduated from college for over ten years [ago]. Not at all.”
He also pointed out that the trust of donors will need to be restored because of the light of day between what the campaign was telegraphing about its status and the truth. “But just like other donors, they’re going to be like f—ing way,” Li said.
“It’s not that he hit him that’s scary. The way he hit him. It wasn’t close at all. It was a decisive defeat.”

Harris was anti-Trump and even beat him in a popular national poll, which Plouffe acknowledged.

“When Kamala Harris became the nominee, she was behind. We said, you know, we rode back, even after the debate, you know, we were still down, you know, in the field districts, but very close. And so, I think, in the end, it was a jump- ball,” he said.
