India’s young professionals are critical to meeting global workforce needs: Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya
India’s youth are the nation’s true wealth, with their talent and skills being recognized and respected across the world, Union Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, has emphasized.
While delivering his speech at an event in the country’s capital, the minister emphasized that Indian professionals have a major role in meeting the needs of the world’s workforce.
The webinar was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment in collaboration with the United Nations of India, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The minister encouraged the participants to consider internships or volunteering opportunities with international organizations, adding such knowledge improves skills, expands ideas and prepares young people for the challenges of different jobs.
Dr Mandaviya also urged the participants to use the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, which has more than 37 lakh registered institutions looking for skilled people.
He described this portal as an important resource for young people who wish to find job opportunities nationally and internationally.
The Minister of Labor and Union Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted that young people are a great resource for development, important representatives of social change and the impetus for economic development and technological innovation.
During the webinar, experts from the UN and the ILO shared important information about the skills and qualifications needed to find job opportunities in international organizations.
Experts inform about various opportunities in the UN system, such as internships, volunteer programs, consultancies and programs for young professionals, explaining the application procedures and the skills required.
“In addition, the UN Jobs Portal was explained, with detailed step-by-step guidance on navigating the portal and applying for the various positions available,” according to the ministry.
Sumita Dawra, Secretary (Labor and Employment), emphasized the unique potential of the country’s unprecedented benefits.
He also shared the department’s plans to expand this program by organizing more such webinars, to ensure greater reach and impact on youth across the country and those studying abroad.
