James Van Der Beek Walks First Red Carpet Since Revealing Cancer Battle
James Van Der Beek made her first appearance on the red carpet since announcing her battle with stage III colorectal cancer.
Van Der Beek, 47, stepped out at the premiere of Sideline: The QB and Me in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 14. He wore a brown, checked suit with a persimmon colored sweater underneath.
The actor stars in the film Tubi, which follows the high school love story of a dancer and a quarterback, alongside Siena Agudong, Drew Ray Tanner, Noah Beck, Josh Zaharia again Mia Shanks.
Van Der Beek, who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023, revealed his health scare earlier this month.
“I have high hopes for caution. I am in the treatment center, my energy is good,” he said People in November profile. “When I’ve been completely out of the woods for what feels like a reasonable amount of time, I’ll come back and let you know. I have a lot to live for.”

Van Der Beek said his cancer was discovered following a colonoscopy procedure.

James, who has also been open about Kimberly’s pregnancy several times, underwent surgery shortly after Jeremiah was born.
