Javier Milei is the first world leader to meet President-elect Trump: ‘The biggest political comeback in history’

Argentina’s president is the first foreign leader to meet in person with President-elect Trump since Trump’s victory last week.

Javier Milei, known as the lion, has gained international fame for his pro-market policies that have reduced inflation in Argentina since he took office last year.

He attended the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) gathering Thursday evening at Mar-a-Lago and will remain at the CPAC Investor Conference that ends Saturday.

President-elect Trump and President Miley met earlier Thursday, and the meeting “went well,” according to an anonymous source with the Associated Press.

X wrote on social media, discussing his plans with President-elect Trump this coming week, saying that he is the only other president who will be present at the conference.

As Milei was ushered out the door of the AFPI gallery on Thursday, she told the Argentinian outlet Clarion, “We will plant ideas of freedom at the top.”

During her speech at the show, Miley congratulated Trump on his victory through an interpreter, saying “this was the biggest political comeback in history, defying the entire political establishment, even putting his life at risk.”

He also thanked Elon Musk for his role in developing his social media site X for President-elect Trump and for connecting around the world.

“There is a silent or silent majority that has started to be heard even though the enemies of freedom are clinging to power through propaganda, distortion and discrimination,” said Milei. “And that’s why I’d like to especially thank the great Elon Musk for the great work he’s been doing to save humanity from global communications.”

The Argentine president then said that what happened in the US election last week was similar to his election last year, when the “party of freedom” took a break from victory.

Milei is considered a Trump figure in South America, marketing black hats similar to red MAGA hats for fans that read “las Fuerzas del Cielo” or “The Forces from Heaven.” He also wielded a chainsaw at a political rally, vowing to cut government spending.

“I am very happy to be able to share with the new president of the United States the same love for freedom. And I am sure that together we will return it to its rightful place,” said Milei in her words.

President-elect Trump took the stage after Milei’s speech, thanking the Argentine president for congratulating and praising his leadership.

“And, Javier, I’d like to congratulate you on the work you’ve done for Argentina,” Trump said. “Your speech was good, but the work you did is amazing. Make Argentina good again. You know MAGA. You are a MAGA person. And you know you do that. Actually. You do that.

“You know, I’d say you’ve done a great job in a very short time. It’s an honor to have you here.”

The office of Argentine President Javier Milei did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
