The slim size of the Republican House majority hangs in 3 non-declared races
Republicans hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives, although the size of that narrow margin won’t be known until the final three undecided races are called.
Last week, the Associated Press called Ohio’s 9th Congressional District for Democratic incumbent Rep. Marcy Kaptur, and the large state of Alaska for Republican businessman Nick Begich, who turned the seat of the reds by ousting Democratic Rep. Mary Sattler Peltola.
The three House races that remain uncalled as of Monday are in California and Iowa.
The balance of power currently sits at 219 seats for Republicans, and 213 for Democrats.

1. California’s 13th Congressional District
Republican Rep. John Duarte leads former Democratic state assemblyman Adam Gray in California’s 13th District, but the hotly contested race has not been called as of Monday morning.
More than 97% of the votes have been counted, with Duarte leading by 50.05% to 49.95%. The two candidates were separated by only 351 votes 102,550 to 102,346.

2. California’s 45th Congressional District
Democratic challenger Derek Tran maintains his lead over Republican Rep. Michelle Steel in the 45th district. Tran is now up 545 votes with a total of 157,427 to Steel’s 156,882 votes as of Monday morning.
99% of votes have been counted in this constituency.

3. Iowa’s first congressional district
Incumbent Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks holds a .1% lead over challenger Christina Bohannan with 99% of the vote counted. Miller-Meeks’ lead sits at 800 votes as of Monday.

The recount, which Miller-Meeks called a waste of taxpayer money, is underway, and House Administration Committee election observers have been sent to the state to oversee the process.
Bohannan asked for a recount in his bid to acquit Miller-Meeks. The Associated Press has not called the race because the margin was close enough to warrant a recount.
Miller-Meeks has declared himself the winner and said he is confident in his lead.
