Killer’s wife seems unfazed by the sentence in the murder case that her husband blamed on her daughter
A Florida woman who killed her husband, buried him in their backyard and tried to frame her 7-year-old daughter has been sentenced to life in prison.
In September, Laurie Shaver, 41, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the 2015 death of Michael Shaver, 36.
Shaver appeared emotional during his sentencing on Tuesday, as he looked forward and nodded as the judge sentenced him to life in prison.

Michael, a technician at Disney World, was last seen in November 2015, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Her body was found on March 9, 2018, after a friend reported her missing and police conducted a health check on Shaver’s five-acre property in Claremont, west of Orlando. Authorities found Michael’s body buried under a fire and concrete strike in the backyard.
Authorities say Shaver posted texts and messages on Facebook, pretending to be Michael, who had died.
Shaver is said to have also told friends that Michael left the family and moved to other states. He was arrested in 2020, five years after Michael’s death.

During her trial, Shaver said Michael was an abusive husband and killed her 7-year-old daughter.
Shaver’s daughter, now 15 years old, testified in her mother’s defense during the trial, Fox35 reported.
“I shot him,” the young man swore.
“Did you feel when you fired that gun that you had to do that or you were going to kill your mother?” asked Shaver’s lawyer.
“Yes, yes,” she said.

“Although justice may be comforting, we cannot undo the wounds,” said Michael’s brother, Brian Shaver, when the sentence was handed down, the local newspaper reported.
One of Michael’s friends also wrote to plead with the judge that Shaver never go free.

“Laurie’s cruel, cruel, and cruel actions, especially her lack of repentance, show that she will never change,” the letter reads.
Shaver’s attorney filed an appeal against the decision.
