Lauren Graham Shares 1 Gilmore Girls Spinoff That Could Work

While Gilmore Girls is such a beloved show in the hearts of so many, fans may not be seeing a spinoff show anytime soon.

In an interview with E! News, Scott Patterson, who played the funny but lovable Luke on Gilmore Girls, explained why he felt the spinoff wouldn’t work.

“I brought this to Peter Roth [Warner Bros] “He spoke to me about my future and told me something steeped in TV history,” Patterson explained. “He said, ‘Scott, people can really miss some of the characters, because the show is so full of rich, amazing characters.’

Patterson went on to say that he appreciates Roth’s advice, noting, “And the guy said something smart because he hit the nail on the head.”

Lauren Grahamwho played Lorelai Gilamore on the hit show, then revealed one spinoff idea she feels could work.

“You can do Lorelai high school,” he said, suggesting that the plot go back in time.

“We’re talking about this like it’s like The Hobbit or something, which I’m not sure it is,” Graham said. “But I think the way other universes have dealt with this question is either backwards or forwards.”

Graham went on to solve some practical problems with creating that spinoff idea, saying, “Then you have the problem of having to take out little Babette and little Miss Patty, so I don’t know.”

Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons between 2000 and 2007. It followed the touching adventures of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory (played by Alexis Bledel), who lives in the magical town of Star Hollow.

In 2016, a mini-series called Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life was released, with four episodes covering all four seasons.

In the interview, Graham explained that there would need to be a creative push to create another chapter in the Gilmore Girls universe.

“I think right now it’s similar to what it would have taken to get us back together last time,” Graham said, “which is a creative step forward, and that would be to give the fans what they want while respecting what we’ve done. already.”

Recently, Graham and Patterson’s characters were reunited in a Walmart commercial, which showed fans what their lives look like post-Gilmore Girls.

The commercial showed Lorelai going to Luke’s Diner, and asking him for her “coffee”.

Luke pulls out a Walmart box and Lorelai opens it to find a Keurig.

“You shouldn’t have!” he exclaimed, and he replied, “You should have, you drink for me outside of business.”
