Manchester United End Van Nistelrooy’s Interim Spell With Impressive Victory Over Leicester
In their last game before Ruben Amorim Officially taking over as manager, Manchester United recorded a 3-0 victory Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The win ended a successful four-game unbeaten run for the interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooywho took office in late October. Van Nistelrooy’s 75% win rate in his short spell is the best in United’s history.
Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show, scoring the opener and contributing the second. The United captain has scored more goals for the club than the rest of the club Eric Cantona.
Fernandes’ rise under Van Nistelrooy will be of great interest to incoming manager Amorim, who will officially start work on Monday. Fernandes failed to score in his last 17 games under former manager Erik ten Hag, but has scored 4 goals in 4 games since Van Nistelrooy took over.
The new manager will also be encouraged by the play of the midfielders Casemiro again Manuel Ugartewho have formed a strong partnership under the interim manager. Wings-back Diogo Dalot again Noussair Mazraoui impressed again, although the former struggled at times against Leicester Abdul Fataw.
With the international break now upon us, Amorim will have time to assess his new team ahead of United’s next Premier League game. Ipswich Town on November 24.
