Naked man arrested in near-killing ax tied to Ventura County high school football field

A naked man arrested at a Ventura County high school is being linked to a homicide at a nearby home, according to reports.

A 24-year-old suspect, identified on the radio as Zuberi Sharp, is being investigated for Thursday’s death at a home in the 400 block of Jeanne Court. Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain Ken Truitt said the person who called the police was distraught and said his child had been killed, according to the Ventura County Star. The suspect was arrested around 8 p.m

Sheriff’s deputies who were chasing him said he was armed with an ax according to radio communications when the incident happened. They also suggested that the ax might be tied to death in Jeanne Court.

“The equipment used, which was an axe, may still be in his possession,” said another deputy, according to the radio.

Sheriff’s deputies called a lockdown at Newbury Park High School after a man ran onto the football field. Many students were still in school even though it was late.

The victim, who was still young, was found with head trauma and died on the way to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Truitt told the newspaper.
