NBC’s Chuck Todd says President Biden ‘needs therapy’ following son Hunter’s pardon
NBC News senior political analyst Chuck Todd offered a scathing critique of President Biden following the president’s controversial but unsurprising decision to pardon his son, Hunter.
During his weekly sit-down with commentator Chris Cillizza on Cillizza’s Substack, Todd admitted he “knew 100%” that Biden would pardon his son — who was facing two felony convictions.
“Joe Biden has—he needs therapy and I say this respectfully. He hasn’t processed Beau’s death. He has a problem—he can’t, he has this issue with Hunter. He’s second-guessing everything he’s done raising Hunter versus raising Beau. He, I think, blames himself for Hunter’s inability to act like an adult for a while,” said Todd.
Beau died in 2015 following a battle with brain cancer.

Todd, who noted that he has had some relationships with Biden’s sons in the past, said Hunter has “failed to be human” over the past decade.
“There was no question that Joe Biden was not going to leave office without doing everything he could to protect his son. It’s pure and simple,” Todd said, calling it a “fatherly reaction.”
He then went on to suggest that the possibility of President-elect Donald Trump pardoning Hunter is a “disgrace” that Biden will not be involved in.

Todd concluded his response by saying that President Biden is “emotionally incapable” of being president and “probably shouldn’t have run.”
In a statement Sunday night, Hunter Biden said he will “never take for granted the kindness” his father gave him and plans to dedicate his life to helping those with addiction.
The younger Biden, 54, has had a busy year in court, starting his first trial in Delaware in June, when he faced three counts of gun murder, before pleading guilty to a separate tax charge in September.
Biden forgiving his son is a departure from his previous words to the media in the summer, he said he would not do that.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Biden White House for comment, but did not immediately respond.
