NFL Week 13 Big Bets Recap: $5 on 13-team parlay comes in at $23k

When it comes to football, there is never a shortage of interesting bets.

But some stand out more than others for their uniqueness.

Example: What goes through the mind of someone who bets just $1 on a three-legged match? We may never know the answer to that, but we do know what went into the betting bag: about $1,100.

More on those bets, some notable parlays, unique wins and big bets — winners and losers alike — as we recap the NFL’s Week 13 and college football Week 14 bets.

Rocket Booster

Among the options DraftKings Sportsbook offers its customer is an odds booster, which increases the potential payout on the bet. On Sunday, one bettor put that to good use in a $1, three-leg parlay:

• Davante Adams scored the first touchdown in the Jets-Seahawks game
• Jonathan Taylor gets the first TD in the Colts-Patriots game
• Mike Evans scores the first TD in the Buccaneers-Panthers game

All three players came up with the first TD in their respective games, at odds of +54500, or 545/1. Best of all, turning a dollar into $545.

But the customer used a 100% parlay boost, which doubled the odds to +109000 (1090/1), and thus doubled the winnings. So $1 became $1,090.

That’s a pretty good ROI.

Parlay Party

You want to know how you live, don’t you? Or at least on one lucky streak?

Hitting a 13-team parlay is a sure sign.

A Caesars Sports client did just that, putting together multiple college football point spread winners for Week 14 of college football. All 13 teams covered the spread, turning a $5 bet into $22,874.89.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, a customer had a $40 three-legged parlay tied for the Bears-Lions game on Thanksgiving:

• Under 48.5 total points
• Sam LaPorta two or more touchdowns
• Keenan Allen anytime TD

LaPorta scored in the second and third quarters for Detroit. Allen fumbled in the third quarter and added a fourth TD, though the bet didn’t call for it. The Lions held on for a 23-20 win, with the game remaining under 48.5 points.

At odds of +26132 (about 261/1), the buyer cleared a profit of $10,452.80.

And how about this Turkey Day Trifecta: DraftKings bettors put $2 on a three-legged parlay on which player will score the first TD in each of the three NFL games. And the buyer nailed it at odds of +99650 – approaching 997/1 – to turn two bucks into $1,995.

The Herd of Mind

FanDuel Sportsbook noted on Sunday that more than 17,000 customers were on the same betting line for seven teams in Week 13 of the NFL.

Those bettors got a good sweat and a solid win, too. To earn the cash, all seven teams had to win outright, and many of the games were close. The Chiefs rolled to a 42-19 victory over Tennessee, but the other six legs were decided in one-point games:

• Chargers 17, Falcons 13, as Atlanta’s Kirk Cousins ​​throws four INTs, including the decisive pick-six.
• Steelers 44, Bengals 38, and Pittsburgh held on after leading 41-24 in the fourth quarter.
• Colts 25, Patriots 24, and Indianapolis scored a TD and a 2-point conversion with 12 seconds left.
• Texans 23, Jaguars 20, as Houston hosts Jacksonville.
• Vikings 23, Cardinals 22, and Minnesota winning by a late touchdown.
• Seahawks 26, Jets 21, as Seattle rallied from a 21-7 deficit.

When the dust settled, anyone betting on that seven-man team made good money at odds of +4891, or about 49/1. So even a $10 bet would have made $490.

Here’s Hope You Got It

It’s not all about putting out wild parlays for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. If you multiply any bet by 25, that will fatten the wallet nicely.

As noted above, Bears wideout Keenan Allen had two touchdowns in the loss to Detroit. On DraftKings, Allen is +2500 to score two or more touchdowns. So a $10 wager would have earned $250.

Also, as noted above, Lions tight end Sam LaPorta scored two touchdowns. At FanDuel, LaPorta was +2100 to do that, so 10 bucks on that prop would have netted him $210 in profit.

Bills running back Ray Davis is +3100 on FanDuel to score the first TD in Sunday night’s conference opener against the 49ers. Davis did so to give Buffalo a 7-3 lead en route to a 35-10 victory.

A $10 bet on Davis won $310.

I Like To Be Betrayed Too Much And I Can’t Lie

Caesars Sports has taken a bevy of six-figure bets on NFL Week 13 odds. Among the most notable large wagers:

• $220,000 Lions -9.5 vs. Bears. Detroit wins 23-20 but doesn’t put up a no. So that’s a big donation to the house.
• $200,000 Lions moneyline -600 vs. Bears. All Detroit needed to do was win, which it didn’t. The bettor makes a profit of $33,333.33 ($233,333.33 payout amount).
• $165,000 Bears +9.5 vs. Lions. Chicago loses 23-20 but covers the spread, so the bettor collects $150,000 in profit ($315,000 total payout).
• $114,000 money line for Cowboys -180 vs. Dallas wins 27-20, and the bettor makes a profit of $60,000 ($174,000 total payout).
• $110,000 Liabilities -6 vs. 49ers. Buffalo rolls 35-10, and the bettor gets a $100,000 profit ($210,000 total payout).
• $110,000 Chargers -1 vs. Falcons. Los Angeles wins 17-13, so the bettor wins $100,000 ($210,000 total payout).

And we’ll end with the biggest sweat of the week. A Caesars customer put $240,000 on the Chiefs -800 money line versus the Raiders. All Kansas City had to do was win the game.

In the waning seconds, with KC up 19-17, Las Vegas was closing in on a game-winning field goal. But the Raiders fumbled, and the Chiefs recovered — albeit on a controversial play — and Kansas City escaped with a victory.

So the bettor escaped, again, winning $30,000, for a total payout of $270,000. Even though the Chiefs got there, just remember: Nothing is certain, especially in NFL betting. It finally makes sense.
