New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams won his appeal of a $45,020 fine for his hit on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren in Week 7, NFL Network reported Thursday.
The penalty was fully overturned by NFL appeals officer Derrick Brooks, a former linebacker and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Williams faced Warren and the Steelers on first-and-goal at the Jets’ 3-yard line with 8:40 left in the third quarter of Pittsburgh’s 37-15 home victory on Oct. 20. Williams was not fined in the game, but the league later fined him for roughing/unnecessary helmet use.
Williams, 28, has 80 tackles, one sack, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries through 11 games.
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Murray State. Williams has 494 career tackles, eight sacks, 45 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback sacks, one interception, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 77 games (63 starts) for the Jaguars (2019-20) and the Jets (currently 2021) .
Williams signed a three-year, $18 million contract before the 2023 season.
