Mendes and Cabello, 27, are dating from 2019 to 2021 after years of friendship. After two years of separation, the two dispelled rumors of a reconciliation at Coachella in April 2023.

The meeting was short-lived, however, as the source confirmed Us Weekly in June 2023 that Mendes and Cabello broke up again.
Since then, Mendes has been back in the recording studio working on his self-titled Risky record, which will be released on Friday, November 15.
“The truth about being an artist, for me at least, the thing that makes sense is that I have one job and that is to express my truth. It’s my responsibility,” he told Apple DJ Zane Lowe on Thursday. “If people associate themselves with songs and come from a place that is not true, then they get a distorted image and I don’t want that. I want people to connect with something that comes from me.”

“If you want to relate to me, I’m going to ask you to relate to the truth about me, not some kind of idea of what I want you to think about me,” he said. “And my one job, my one responsibility is to do it [love] I and I will not make art at this time otherwise. “

Mendes continued, “Everything I write and create must be in that reality. I think the hard part about the society we live in is that no one has a gray area. Black or white. No one has the space for the nuances and complexities of everything in between. No one has room for all of us just trying to figure things out.”
As her ex prepares to release his new album, Cabello has announced that she plans to take a hiatus from social media.
“A writer should have stories to live by right now,” he wrote on his Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 13. “Taking nice little internet breaks. I love you my kids.”
Shawn will be released on Friday, November 15.
