Surveillance video shows Cash App founder using knife to snort cocaine before death, lawyer says

Attorneys for the suspect accused of killing Cash App founder Bob Lee in San Francisco played surveillance video during closing arguments in his murder case that they say shows Lee using a knife to snort cocaine hours before his death.

Lawyers representing Nima Momeni – a self-proclaimed technology entrepreneur – said it was the same knife Lee used when he confronted their client over a prank in April 2023, which led to her avoiding the attack in self-defense and Lee’s later death. of stab wounds, according to KTVU.

Defense attorney Saam Zangeneh said Lee used a knife to “pick up and sniff” cocaine when he threw the bender that ended in a struggle under the Bay Bridge, the station reported.

“I’m telling you that, we’ve done the dimensions, we’ve broken it down, you’re holding the exact same, exact size of the knife found outside the Caltrans parking lot. That knife!” Zangeneh said outside the court on Tuesday.

The case is expected to go before the jury for trial on Wednesday.

Prosecutors, who presented their closing arguments on Monday, said Momeni planned the attack after learning that the professor had introduced his younger sister to a drug dealer who allegedly gave her GHB and other drugs and then sexually assaulted her in his apartment.

Momeni lured Lee to a secluded area near the Bay Bridge, stabbed him three times with a knife in his sister’s kitchen and drove off in his car.

If convicted, Momeni, 40, faces up to 26 years in prison.

Some surveillance footage then shows them getting out of the car near the Bay Bridge, where they were stabbed.

Lee was found staggering along a deserted street in downtown San Francisco at 2:30 a.m., dripping blood and pleading for help. He later died in hospital.

Momeni testified during the trial and said that he stopped his car near the Bay Bridge after crossing a ditch which caused Lee to spill the beer he was carrying.

“I made a bad joke. I said if it’s my last night in town, I’m going to have fun with my family instead of going around strip clubs. It hurt him. He just blew up in front of me. He went from zero to 100. He was very angry,” said Momeni, according to KRON.

However, the prosecutor has ridiculed Momeni’s story, pointing out that he never called the police to report Lee’s alleged assault even after he found out that Lee had died of stab wounds on the street where he had last seen him.
