Suspect Conor McGregor suffered “severe injuries” after the alleged rape, a doctor has said

A woman who accuses a famous cage star Conor McGregor her rapist in a civil case in Ireland was found “severely injured” shortly after the alleged attack, the paramedic who treated her told the High Court in Dublin.

Nikita Hand claims McGregor assaulted and raped her in a Dublin hotel room in December 2018.

McGregor, a former world champion mixed martial artist and one of the world’s highest-paid athletes, has denied all allegations.

“I’ve never seen someone so injured, with so many wounds,” paramedic Eithne Scully told the Irish court, according to CBS News network partner BBC News, which had a reporter in court.

Scully said Hand had cuts on his chin and lower neck, chest, legs, buttocks and thighs.

The judge was shown a video of Hand being treated by Scully showing his injuries, the BBC said.

The High Court of Ireland began hearing evidence in the civil case last week. Under Irish law, neither the accuser nor the accused have the right to remain anonymous in civil proceedings, unlike in criminal prosecutions.

Irish state broadcaster RTÉ reported that Hand had brought criminal charges against McGregor in 2020, but the Director of Public Prosecutions declined to take the case, finding there was no reasonable prospect of convicting McGregor.

Appearing in the witness box last week, Hand said he was at a Christmas party in a Dublin hotel in 2018, where he drank alcohol and took cocaine with McGregor, according to RTÉ. Hand told the court that McGregor forced her down on the bed in the hotel’s penthouse suite and she could not breathe at the time.

He bit her, he said, then put his arm around her neck and choked her three times. Hand told the court she thought she was going to die and never see her daughter again.

Hand said he then allowed McGregor to do “whatever he had to do” to survive, at which point he raped her, according to RTÉ’s account of her testimony.

Hand was accused of spreading a “false website” by McGregor’s defense team last week during cross-examination.

BBC News said McGregor’s lawyers accused Hand of trying to defraud the civil case. Remy Farrell, McGregor’s lawyer, said Hand told her then-boyfriend days after the alleged attack that McGregor had threatened to kill her.

Farrell said Hand omitted this information from his interviews with police and pressed him on whether the claim was true.

“Did something happen or not?” Farrell asked him in court, according to the BBC. Hand told the court she did not remember saying that to her boyfriend at the time.

McGregor has faced allegations of sexual harassment before in the United States. In October 2023, the Miami State Attorney’s Office said that will not pursue criminal charges McGregor after a woman accused him of trying to force her to perform oral sex on him after the NBA Finals game between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.

He has also faced criminal charges in the US alleged assault again criminal mischief.
