The ‘food noise’ is revealed and how to silence it for good

The “eating noise,” as it’s known, is an informal way to summarize the internal dialogue between the brain and stomach, a weight loss doctor told Fox News Digital.

“Basically, the way our bodies are wired is as follows,” Batash said. “The brain controls hunger. But the brain relies on the stomach to provide signals when the brain has to step in and make a decision: You’re hungry – you have to eat – or you’re not hungry – so. , stop eating.”

When food fills the stomach, “we are happy because the stomach is expanded,” said Batash.

However, when food leaves the stomach and enters the small intestine to be digested, “that’s when a person feels hungry again,” said Batash.

Food noise is often amplified among people who eat, Batash said.

“When you’re dieting, you think you’re doing something good because you’re losing calories and you’re happy again,” he said.

“But when you’re exercising, your mind is actually destroying you. Your brain doesn’t understand that you’re trying to lose weight.”

For some, the sound of food is not a problem. In fact, it is necessary, said Batash.

Ideally, “you want the right amount of noise.”

“You want to make a noise because otherwise you can stay for days without eating and die,” he said.

Another way to suppress the noise is to take prescription weight-loss drugs, which Batash calls a “game changer,” but only until the person continues to take the drugs.

“But the problem is that if you stop using these drugs, many people will gain weight again,” said Batash.

He also said that these drugs are expensive – and, for a certain percentage of people, “the drugs don’t work.”
