Which ICC countries can Netanyahu and Gallant face arrest? | Israel-Palestine Conflicts News

More than 120 countries that are part of the International Court of Justice are obliged to enforce the arrest.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are fugitives after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued warrants for their arrest in connection with the war in Gaza.

Although Israel does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC and Netanyahu and Gallant will not surrender, the world of these two has become very small.

The Rome Statute, the treaty that established the ICC, brings together 124 state bodies on six continents. Under this law, ICC member states are legally obligated to verify their arrests, according to international human rights lawyer Jonathan Kuttab.

“The law works on the assumption that people will obey it. That’s how all laws are made,” Kuttab told Al Jazeera.

“He expects everyone to respect the law. Those who do not respect the law are breaking the law.”

He went on to say that there are early signs that countries will not ignore the court’s decision. Many of Israel’s allies – including the European Union – are committed to ensuring they are arrested, Kuttab said.

Netanyahu condemned these crimes and called them anti-Semitic.

Here is the list of countries where Netanyahu and Gallant could be arrested after the ICC decision:
