US military destroyers shot down Houthi missiles and drones for the second time in less than a month, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday.
USS Stockdale (DDG 106) and USS O’Kane (DDG 77) successfully intercepted a range of missiles launched by the Houthis while transiting the Gulf of Aden on December 9 and 10, the Navy said.
The ships escorted US merchant ships and operated while successfully engaging and defeating just one combined attack, disabled air systems and one anti-ship missile.

The attack marks the second in a month, the first taking place from November 30 to December 1 when the ships defeated an attack by the Iran-backed Houthis.

“These actions demonstrate the continued commitment of CENTCOM forces to protect US personnel, regional partners, and international shipping, from attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis,” the command said in a statement.
The attack occurred while the ships were passing through the Gulf of Aden from December 9 to December 10, CENTCOM said. (US Central Command)

American personnel were not injured, CENTCOM added, and there were no injuries or damage to the ships.
Attacks on ships continue and Houthi militants vow to continue until Israel ends its operation in Gaza.
